SGS, host of the II UNCOLI Summit on Natural Sciences

On February 28th, St. George's School had the honor of receiving Natural Sciences teachers from different UNCOLI schools at the II UNCOLI Educators Summit of Natural Sciences, an enriching meeting that promoted the exchange of experiences and pedagogical strategies.

The day began with a presentation about the school, followed by the day's agenda and the central lecture "Actions here and now to educate environmental awareness by example". In this talk, Mr. Jimmy shared how SGS is actively working to care for the environment and promote sustainability by example.

Throughout the day, participants experienced various workshops designed to strengthen the teaching of Natural Sciences. Among the topics addressed were classroom routines, collaborative work, neuroscience applied to education, pedagogical challenges, live genetics, physics, technology in the classroom and learning through 3D models. These spaces for exchange allowed the generation of reflections and innovative strategies to be applied in the classroom.

As part of the agenda, an environmental tour of the school's facilities was conducted, visiting the organic vegetable gardens, ecological trails and other spaces dedicated to environmental education.

To close the day, the summit featured the forum "Beyond atoms and molecules: cultivating health and wellness from the science classroom", where new perspectives on the teaching of Natural Sciences and its impact on the wellbeing of students were explored. Finally, the event concluded with lunch, an ideal moment to continue sharing ideas and experiences.

SGS is grateful to all the teachers who took part and to UNCOLI for promoting these initiatives that strengthen education.
