SGS, undefeated champion of the ASOCOLDEP Junior Basketball Tournament 2024

In an exciting game played in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, November 12, in the beautiful setting of school Marymount, the youth basketball final was played between the teams of the Liceo Cervantes and Saint George’s schools. Both teams arrived undefeated to the final, and were determined to leave everything on the court and take the golden medal for their homes. 🏀✨

At first, the team of school San Jorge, led by the strength of its captain, Daniel Fernandez, number 13 on his jersey, won by 5 points in the first half of the game. The team work stood out, obtaining in the first two quarters: 11 assists, 21 rebounds, 3 steals, 6 steals and 30 points with a 42% conversion rate in 3-point shots.

In the third quarter, both teams made defensive adjustments that reduced their offensive power, although San Jorge increased the difference to 7 points.

Despite the great efforts of the Liceo Cervantes team, who began to generate forced errors to the opposing team through a pressing defense all over the field and thus cut the difference, the team of school San Jorge managed to win 53 to 51 in an agonizing final.

Nicolas Wilches, number 33 in his jersey, was the most outstanding player of the game, with his 16 points, 12 three-pointers, 3 assists, 6 rebounds and one steal, to finally give the victory.
