SGS Symphonic Band takes second place in National Unpublished Bambuco Contest

Last Saturday, 20th September, our SGS Symphonic Band won second place in the youth category at the XIX National Contest of Unpublished Bambuco in Tocancipá.  This national contest takes place every year and bands from all over the country take part.

Our Symphonic Band performed three works with great musical level, leaving the name of St. George's School high and reaffirming the excellence of our artistic and formative project.

The technical precision and expressiveness of these interpretations won the band a second place.

Tatiana Morales, an 8th grade pupil and member of the band composed the unpublished bambuco piece "Para Fercho" (For Fercho)as tribute to her brother, and was played in the category of the Bambuco Libre.

Our band came first in 2023 at this prestigious national contest; which further reafirms the strength of our Music Department headed by the teacherJuan Fernando Olaya and that of the Symphonic Band directed by Omar Cifuentes.

Our extended thank you to all who made this possible.

Congratulations to each of our musicians!
