We congratulate our alumna Sara Mendoza Crespo of the class of 1991 for being the first woman to have performed an artificial heart transplant in Latin America on a girl of only 11 years of age. Sara is currently head of pediatric and congenital cardiovascular surgery at the Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia and with this procedure she positioned the country at the forefront of medical technology. We know that this is only the beginning of many successes and we look forward to what's next for Sara!
