We would like to highlight the success of the entrepreneur Mateo Albarracín, former pupil of our institution, in his recent venture BACU, and his concept of comfort food, highlighted by his proposal within the gastronomic sector in the latest edition of Forbes magazine.
BACU has achieved an outstanding investment of US$6 million with the goal of expanding and becoming a large restaurant chain. This achievement is a testament to the effort, dedication and perseverance of Mateo and his team in developing their business. Together with two other former Rappi employees and a chef, Mateo created a technology-based startup that, in the future, could license its business model to other restaurants. Four short months after opening four locations in Bogota, they aspire to close 2023 with at least 17 locations and sales of $70 billion (Colombian pesos). If they achieve their goal, "they will become the fastest growing restaurant chain in Colombia, entering the top 20 alongside names such as Frisby, Crepes & Waffles, El Corral and McDonald's," says Forbes.
Additionally, BACU was selected for take part at the Festival Estéreo Picnic (FEP) 2023, which will take place March 23-26. The FEP is one of the most important music events in Colombia and brings together music fans and artists of international stature. Being selected for take part in the line-up of restaurants of this festival is a great honor and recognition for BACU, demonstrating the quality and originality of its gastronomic proposal and the commitment of its team to offer a unique experience to its customers.

From St. George's School, we congratulate Mateo and the entire BACU team for this achievement and wish them every success in their participation in the EFF 2023 and in their future plans. We are sure that their presence at the festival will be a real success and that the growth of their startup is and will be an inspiration for our students and the community in general.
