COPinBogotá 2023: contributing to the fight against climate change

We are pleased to share with you the exciting moments that marked the ninth edition of COPinBogotá, held from October 31 to November 2, 2023. This year, our flagship event brought together around 100 participants, including students and teachers, from schools committed to caring for the environment. Once again, we demonstrated that young people are at the forefront of the fight against climate change.

In a collective effort, students joined their peers from partner schools, such as Argelia, Jorge Issacs, Miravalle, Santiago de las Atalayas, school Rochester, school San Mateo Apóstol, Gimnasio La Montaña, Gimnasio Vermont, Knightsbridge Schools International, and Lycée Francais Louis Pasteur. Together, we took a great climate action. On Tuesday, October 31, in La Montaña del Oso, Chía, after an ecological walk, we planted 40 trees, contributing to the recovery of the High Andean Forest. This experience not only fostered collaboration among participants, but also gave them the opportunity to be agents of change in climate change mitigation.

The event continued on November 1-2 with interesting discussions on the campus of St. George's School. Delegates in four specialized committees addressed key issues in the global fight against climate change, such as mitigation, adaptation, technology transfer, and climate finance and capacity. We are especially grateful for the participation and support of our rector, Jaime Acosta, who played a key role in the opening and central conference of COPinBogotá.

We extend our thanks to the students and those from the invited schools for their active participation in this edition of COPinBogotá. Their efforts are a testament to our institution's ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate action. We are certain that these events not only mark the present, but are also seeds that will blossom into a more sustainable future for all.
