We are pleased to share with you the exciting moments that marked the ninth edition of COPinBogotá, held from October 31 to November 2, 2023. This year, our flagship event brought together around 100 participants, including students and teachers, from schools committed to caring for the environment. Once again, we demonstrated that young people are at the forefront of the fight against climate change.

We are pleased to announce that our talented former pupil, Kevin Aguirre from the class of 2015, has been nominated for Best Producer of the Year in the Nuestra Tierra 2024 Awards. His talent has shined in numerous projects, and this nomination is a testament to his hard work and innate talent.
María Emma Laverde's story stands out as an inspiring mix of passions turned into teachings. María Emma graduated from SGS in 2008 and has since forged a multifaceted career that reflects her dedication, curiosity and commitment to teaching in different and varied fields.
In the recent AEXSGS Women's Interroscas tournament, the alumnae of St. George's School once again demonstrated their passion for sports and camaraderie. For four Sundays, from February 11 until the final on March 3, four teams made up of alumnae from the class of 2008 to the class of 2023 competed in 9-a-side soccer matches.
It is with great pride and joy that we celebrate the exceptional achievements of three alumnae of our institution, Adriana Camacho (class of 1995), Carolina Soto (class of 1990) and Raquel Bernal (class of 1991), who have been recognized among the 30 most influential economists in Colombia, according to the prestigious Forbes magazine.
Daniel Áñez, an outstanding former pupil of the class of 2000. With a solid academic background in the world of music since his years at school, Daniel has obtained master's and doctorate diplomas in piano performance, recognition in international competitions and has given recitals in numerous countries, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene.

We congratulate our former pupil Héctor Alejandro Cruz Parra of the class of 2018, who was awarded as one of the three best doctors in his mandatory internship performed at the Federico Lleras Acosta Hospital located in Ibagué, Tolima.

In 2020, Maria Fernanda launched "The Bee Love Project", a company dedicated to raising awareness about the fundamental role of bees in our world and the importance of their work in the process of pollination of fruits and vegetables.

We congratulate our former pupil Daniel Castro Pantoja, (graduated 2007), for his article 'The Life of a Colombian Musician: Music Autobiography, Cosmopolitan Musickings, and Agonistic Objectification' in the December 2022 issue of the Journal of the American Musicological Society. He was building on the work begun in his dissertation on the life, writings, and influence of Colombian composer Guillermo Uribe Holguín. The article ended an extraordinary year for Daniel, which also included his appointment as assistant professor of Music, in the School of Music at the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at the Greenboro University of North Carolina.
Congratulations to Pablo Perea Bohórquez, former pupil of the class of 2014 and psychologist graduated from the Universidad de los Andes, who recently graduated from the Master in Literature with Cum Laude degree from the same university.

On February 5, we held our traditional SGS bazaar at our facilities, which had not been held in person since 2020.
We would like to congratulate our former pupil María Margarita Borrero Blanco, graduated 1988, who won the XI La Cueva National Short Story Prize. Margarita has a PhD in European Literature from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and studied Social Communications and Journalism at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogotá). She has worked in Colombia, the United States and Spain as a scriptwriter and proofreader. Since 2009, she has been a teacher at the Escuela de Escritores de Madrid. She has given creative writing courses at Mount Saint Mary University (Los Angeles) and the Hugo House Institute (Seattle). She is also the author of the novel El ataúd más hermoso del mundo ( Editorial Renacimiento, 2007), winner of the short novel of the Rincón de la Victoria España Prize.
This year, several alumni joined us as teachers and employees, and we would like to extend a warm welcome to all of them!
On 26th November, we enjoyed a great show in which Sherlock and Watson travelled to London, Paris and Cairo to solve the case. A great mystery that, in the end, turned the Mona Lisa into the most famous painting in the world. We had two wonderful performances, the first one at 4:00 p.m. after which the Elementary and Preschool pupils had the opportunity to talk to the artists. At the end of the 7:00 p.m. show the 11th grade pupils performed their traditional dance.
On Friday 3rd June, we paid a heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee. It is the first time in history that a British sovereign has been on the throne for 70 years.
It is important to maintain our British traditions and on Friday morning we came together to celebrate this great event as a community. We had a magnificent performance by the Symphony Orchestra and words from our Headmaster, Jaime Acosta as well as other presentations. At the end of the ceremony, an olive tree was planted in front of the 9th and10th grade building.
We congratulate our former pupil, Raquel Bernal -graduated 1991, for her new achievement as Chancellor of the Universidad de los Andes. As well as it being in recognition of her leadership, it is important to highlight that she is the first woman to achieve this post in the more than 70 years of history of the University.

We are very proud to recognize María José Jiménez Real, alumna of the class of 2021, for her first book "Perfectly Imperfect", which was recently released.
"María José is a book lover and her biggest dream has always been to be a writer. As a child she wrote short stories in any notebook she could find, and in her diaries she mentioned how much she wanted to publish a book. She graduated from school with honours, and now hopes to start her undergraduate degree in Literature at the Universidad de los Andes. 'Perfectly Imperfect' is just the first step" (Penguin Random House).
